Lots of people are questioning whether the new scores on the National Assessment of Educational Progress mean that No Child Left Behind. That’s the wrong conclusion to draw.

It's Being Done

Centennial Place Elementary, where 65 percent of the students are poor and 90 percent are African American is one of the top elementary schools in Georgia. And there’s no drilling-and-killing anywhere in sight.

What's New

NAEP scores are out, but the real story isn’t in the disappointing overall scores but in the hopeful signs in the disaggregated data. Also – the National Academy of Sciences has issued an urgent call to action, saying that we need 10,000 high-quality math and science teachers ASAP.
